We're excited to bring back one of our favorite events - 5th Sunday!

Every month that has a 5th Sunday this year, we will participate in service projects throughout the metro - with serving opportunities spread across Saturday and Sunday of that weekend.

Our desire is to be a blessing to our local community and strengthen the relationships within our own body by serving alongside one another. We want our practice to match our beliefs - to worship in Spirit and truth while thinking more highly of others than we do ourselves, and using our resources to serve them.

We encourage you to get involved and help us share the sacrificial love of Christ with our neighbors!

Bidwell Riverside Center (Saturday, March 28th - 1:00-3:00pm)

This project will consist of organizing food shelves, cleaning, and various other projects.  This project is kid friendly.

Project Location: 1203 Hartford Avenue, Des Moines, IA, 50315

 

Many Hands for Haiti - Grimes (Saturday, March 28th - 8:30-10:30am)

This project will consist of organizing and putting away items in the store.  This project is kid friendly.

Project Location: Grimes – 2900 SE Grimes Blvd, Grimes, IA 50111

 

Spurgeon Manor (Saturday, March 28th - 1:30-2:30pm)

This project consist of spending time with various residents. Activities may include card playing, board games, worship music, or perhaps just chatting. This project is kid friendly.

Grimes Storehouse (Sunday, March 29th - 1:00-2:30pm)

This project consists of packaging food kits for those in need. This project is kid friendly.

We are also needing the food for the kits to be donated. The kits we will be assembling are: Taco Soup, Chicken Alfredo and Shepherds Pie. Please feel free to bring as many items for the kits as you would like. We do as that whole kits be donated in order to ensure kits aren’t missing items.

Kit Ingredients Needed:

TACO SOUP (approx. $10.00)
– Large can of baked beans
– Can of corn
– Can of tomato soup
– Can of diced tomatoes
– Packet of taco seasoning
– Bag of Fritos

CHICKEN ALFREDO (approx. $10.00)
– Large can of chicken
– Jar of Alfredo sauce
– Packet of Italian seasoning
– Bag/Box of pasta

SHEPHERDS PIE (approx. $9.00)
– Box of instant mashed potatoes
– Packet of brown gravy
– Can of roast beef
– Can of sliced carrots
– Can of peas

JOPPA (Sunday, March 29th - 10:30-11:30)

This project consists of packaging warm meals into sacks, for JOPPA to distribute to the homeless in the community. This project is kid friendly.
