More About Jesus

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
- Jesus (John 14:6)

Who Is Jesus?

He was born over 2,000 years ago to a poor, teenage girl, with a new husband and a highly unlikely story. He lived in a small town, wrote no books during His life, and conquered no kingdoms. However, He changed the course of all humanity in His short 33 years on earth. Men have hated Him, loved Him, mocked Him and followed Him. Here at Harvest, we think He’s worth knowing. In fact, we believe that all of history points to Him.

Approximately 700 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah wrote this about Him:

  • “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14
  • “But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

He was God’s only son, deity in flesh. He spoke with authority and love. He came to “seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). He came to save me – to save you! That’s why we’re here! It’s all about Jesus.

JOHN 1:1 and 1:14,15
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’”

JOHN 8:58
“Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

PHILIPPIANS 2:6-11
“Who although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

COLOSSIANS 2:9-10
“For in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in Him, who is the head of all rule and authority.”

MATTHEW 28:18-20
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”

Salvation Comes Through Him
Salvation Comes Through Him

JOHN 14:6
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

ACTS 4:12
“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

JOHN 10: 9-11
“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

ROMANS 10:9
“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
